Purpose: ENVR 499A is the first course of a two-semester sequence of courses consisting of ENVR 499A and ENVR 499B. This course will prepare students to write the required senior thesis through class sessions, directed outside research, and oral presentations. Students must have an ENVR major or minor and hold junior standing (53 credit hours). Permission to register from Chief Undergraduate Adviser is required. Students may register for this course during any semester.
Course Work: Students will take 6-8 one-hour class sessions on background and preparation of an environmental thesis. To pass the course the student must successfully complete Part I of the ENVR thesis contract form (see appendix D) and deliver an oral presentation on their proposed topic to the class. The class will be graded on a Pass/No Pass basis.
Purpose: ENVR 499B is the second course of a two-semester sequence of courses consisting of ENVR 499A and ENVR 499B, which guides and faculties the completion of an undergraduate Environmental Studies thesis.
Course Work: The student writes the thesis under the supervision of a thesis adviser and a reader. This committee of two guides the student in thesis preparation and is responsible to review and grade the thesis.
Prerequisites: Good standing within the University of Nebraska Honors Program.
Purpose: Students enrolled in ENVR 499H complete the same sequence as those enrolled in 499A & B. Students in the University Honors Program may meet their requirement for a creative research project through the preparation of a thesis that also meets ENVR major requirements.
