Welcome to the Environmental Studies Program at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln.
From global climate change, to loss of habitat and biodiversity, and depletion of natural resources, the planet’s environmental problems are complex. Because of this, their solutions require an interdisciplinary focus that emphasizes the physical, biological, and social sciences.
The University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) Environmental Studies Program (ENVR) recognizes the importance of providing prospective students with a degree that teaches interdisciplinary skills and offers the versatility needed for students to be competitive in the job market. We offer a distinct program that provides a holistic approach focusing on the physical, biological, and social sciences, while requiring the student to be trained in a specific area of emphasis. The strength and richness of the program is its collaboration across the College of Arts and Sciences and the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources. This is a unique model and it provides the students with a wonderful array of opportunities.
Students interested in majoring in Environmental Studies are advised to make an initial appointment with either the Program Director or the Program Adviser.
