I’ve called the Cincinnati Nature Center forest ‘home’ since August 2016 and it truly is “A Place Like No Other.”

My name is Whitney Drahota ('15) and my dream career would get humans, especially young humans, connected to nature. After I graduated an advisor sent me information on the Environmental Interpretation Internship at the Cincinnati Nature Center. It was everything I wanted and more, and it still is. After my 9-month internship ended, I began my role as the Education Fellow, a 12-month senior intern position. I’m gaining knowledge and skills in:

  • School Programs leading field trips for students
  • Public Programs such as Scouts’ Badge earning, family natural history programs, drop in trailside kits, and more
  • Visitor Experience doing shifts as a Front Desk Naturalist
  • Youth Programs including monthly Saturday programs, outreach to other organizations, and summer day camps.

I’m not sure where my career will take me, but I plan on continuing to use my degree in Environmental Studies and Anthropology and my experiences at the Cincinnati Nature Center to connect humans and nature.
